Interview with Dale Wombwell, a reflexology practitioner, teacher and advocate.

A person like no other. A woman, a visionary, a well of knowledge, a kind heart. Dale is a kind of teacher that put me instantly at ease. She showed me how to combine science and anatomy knowledge with intuition and self trust.
This is a kind of meeting that happens once in a life time. One that you know will change your life forever.
Night before going for my reflexology course with Dale, I had a dream. It was happening in my great grandfather's courtyard, just in front of his house. Two owls were fighting a snake and a snake escaped into my parents house. One owl was small and the other one was a big owl, the great horned owl. The owl was holding a book that they were fighting about and it wanted to show it to me. It looked at me in such a way that you don't forget. You know that feeling in a dream that is stronger then what you experience in real life? When all the senses are engaged and something even more, like feeling with all your cells, with your energetic body. That piercing gaze of an owl had a shocking effect on me and when I woke up, all I can see was those eyes, piercing through me, wanting to tell me something. Imagine how I felt when in the morning I walked into Dale's classroom and there, sitting on the chair, was the above painting of the Great Horned Owl! I had goosebumps and energetic downloads going right through my system, while trying to keep a straight face. How synchronistic!
I must tell you that I had doubts about choosing reflexology as my new practice. I have been looking for something for many years and my intuition was guiding me towards reflexology, but I had no experience with it and no idea who Dale was. I soon discovered that my intuition and dreams never lie. It turned out Dale was one of the kind, a gem of a human, a healer, a soft, carrying teacher who firmly corrected all my mistakes and kept encouraging me. I feel so grateful to have been able to study with her. Dale is also quite known in KW region. Whenever I mention her name, someone will sure tell me they know her. Dale was largely involved with Girl Guides and is now an active member of her Church in Breslau. She is also a reiki and sound healing practitioner. She makes incredible quilts and shares them so generously with her friends and church community.
I asked Dale to answer a few questions so that you can learn about what kind of a person she is. Here is a little interview we did with Dale in May, 2026 after my certification in Ear and Hand Reflexology:
What inspired your journey into reflexology and did it become what you were hoping it to be?
I just planned to help my daughter with her migraines and in doing my case studies (histories) it made such a difference to several people that I decided to make a business of it.
Why did you become a teacher of reflexology and how long have you been teaching?
I hadn't planned it, Margaret Bell my teacher of hand and ear and mentor saw something in me and encouraged me to teach. I have been teaching for 16 years.
What is your biggest success story or stories in reflexology?
1. One of my case studies - he came in with a toothache and I noticed a brown spot that wasn't there the previous week so strongly suggested he see his dentist and that lead to diagnosing stage 4 throat cancer. In getting treatment quickly it gave him 12 more years of life.
2. A young infant, 3 months, with no hearing in one ear, 20% in the other. In consultation with 3 world class reflexologist I came up with a reflexology and sound protocol that at 9 months gave him 80% in the bad ear and 100% in the better ear.
What do you wish people knew about reflexology that is not a common knowledge?
Besides being one of the most relaxing alternative therapies, it is also one of the most therapeutic.
What does it mean it is the most therapeutic? Do you mean for mental and emotional health?
We can't say it is the most therapeutic but is up there as one of the most. It is helpful in all, physical, mental, and emotional.
What do you strive to install in your reflexology students?
Bring your authentic self, and honour each person that has chosen to come to you.
How many students did you train in reflexology over the years?
123 that became certified, many taking multiple courses and then probably about 50 that did not complete their certification. Some like to learn to just work on their family and friends.
What do you plan to do during your retirement?
More of what I love doing, quilting, reading, taking courses, hiking and fitness classes.

Can you tell me a bit about your dog and her participating in classes and treatments?
We have had 2 Bischon Friese, Manon and Cosette. Both without any coaching wanted to lie with people, at first it was only family but they showed such intuitive moves ( laying their heads on an affected area) that I let them lie with clients and students with their permission. Also they have such caring dispositions that everyone loves them back.
Anything else that you feel inspired to share?
I have totally loved both giving treatments and teaching but unfortunately the arthritic hands are curtailing that. I do credit giving Reflexology for keeping my hands nimble this long. As far as teaching, I believe it is time soon let a younger person take the reigns. I would love to mentor someone as Margaret Bell mentored me.
