I am so excited to add ear reflexology to my offers! Here is why:

  • it is quick - sessions can be 5-20 minutes long

  • it is accessible - can be done in a chair or laying down

  • it acts immediately

  • it has potential to help with things foot reflexology may not have

What is Ear Reflexology and how is it different from foot and hand?

Ear reflexology focuses on pressing reflex points in the ear which activates healing responses in the body. Similarly to hand and foot reflexology, ear also is a miniature version of the entire body in a small area. Reflexology is based on the idea of Macro in the micro cosmos - the whole body is mirrored on a small area of the body. That means that ear has reflex points responsible for digestion, spine, limbs, brain and different organs. By pressing these points we are activating the body's connection to the corresponding organ/ system, which sends the signals of any energy blockages. I would like you to think of energy not as something abstract or esoteric, but a real, palpable current that can be sensed with practice. When I am talking about energy, I am referring to the real electro-magnetic currents that may be invisible to the human eye, but nevertheless do exist. Human body, as a living organism runs on energy and this energy has many levels of subtlety which also connect to less physical levels.

Difference between foot, hand and ear reflexology

The major difference is in the duration of the treatment as well as how long the effects last. Ear reflexology has the shortest time span of all 3 with only 1-2 days effects. However, that doesn't mean it can not trigger powerful healing that is not available or not as easily achieved with foot reflexology.

Some issues that ear reflexology is really superior in addressing are:

  • headaches

  • earache and hearing issues

  • eyesight problems and eye strain

  • jaw pain

  • tooth pain and dental work support

  • facial tension

  • neck pain and tension

  • anxiety

  • sleep disturbances

Why is it so powerful in those cases?

Ear is very close to the brain - which makes it work way faster simply because the nerve input doesn't need to travel long distance. There are numerous facial nerves as well as the well known vagus nerve in near proximity of the ear - this sends the message to the nervous system to relax and let go of tension.

Vagus nerve is known in the healing world as the supreme regulator - it is responsible for activating parasympathetic mode when the body is turned towards rest and digest cycle. In our daily life we are often functioning in the sympathetic mode - our body then believes it needs to be in a fight and flight cycle.

Ear reflexology instantly relaxes a receiver that is why it is a great opener for any reflexology session. I will be offering it in a combo setting with other modalities, stay tuned!

Another reason why ear reflexology is so powerful is that it combines: Auricular Therapy points, accupoints as known from Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Reflexology Points. All together the ear reflexology covers 90 points on the ear! It is also the only reflexology modality that has a regulated map of points and all the maps of ear reflexology are exactly the same. How is it possible? We got lucky and somehow the american government got a deal with Chinese government and they made the Traditional Chinese Medicine Ear Maps available to the West which allowed for standardization of practice. Both foot and hand reflexology differ depending on the school that is teaching a specific reflexology methods. Also, foot and hand maps are copyrighted which means if you ever reproduce a map of points you can not use it without permission. This resulted in each school creating their own maps for the purpose of teaching the students. As you can imagine, this led to vast differences in agreeing to where exactly each reflex areas are located! However, with ear reflexology point maps, they are all consistent and exactly the same, which means there is no room for error.

As you know from your treatments, reflexologists can not treat for a specific medical condition. However, with the ear reflexology, there is an exception - we can for example, work on only stimulating certain points to help with headaches, anxiety or addictions. I will be happy to work with you and teach you how to self - help yourself by pressing on certain points.

Who is the Ear Reflexology safe for?

  • small children - including newborns

  • pregnant women

  • elderly

  • anyone!

My teacher even does ear reflexology for her dog, who loves it dearly. In short, it is a versatile modality that I am sure will bring some amazing results to those who will choose to try it.
